ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Non-rotating work schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. subject to changes. Occasional mandatory overtime and weekends as required.
Overview
The Utility Technician I will maintain and mow the City's right-of-way and drainage ditches for the City parks and public areas for the Parks and Recreation department.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of machinery such as trucks, slope mowers, tractor with batwing attachment, flat mowing tractors, zero turn mowers, operating weed-eaters, chain saws, brooms, shovels, picks, lopping shears, blowers, pole saws, rakes, trash grabbers and basic understanding of hand tools and power tools
- Will require obeying all traffic laws while moving equipment from one location to another and following all City ordinance, policies and procedures
- Will perform vehicle inspections, set up traffic control, pick up trash, and weed-eating
- Will provide instruction and guidance to employees assisting on brush crew and provide entry level assistance to mowing crews requiring general understanding of OSHA safety regulations and safety issues; basic knowledge and understanding of hazards of constructions trade along with knowledge of surroundings
- Will require completing daily vehicle inspection logs, mowing logs, work orders, completing injury report and have basic understanding and ability to use of MSDS sheets
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Requires a High School Diploma/GED
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience
- A valid driver's license is required
- Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's License within 90 days of hire.

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
