Recreational Therapist - ADC

Empath Health is currently seeking an Recreational Therapist to join our team.

Under the supervision of the Director of Empath Adult Day Centers and as a member of the Empath Adult Day Center Program, assesses the needs, interests and capabilities of participants and develops individualized therapeutic recreation plans. Supervises and directs the work of Activity Assistants, and Program Assistants, working within the Empath Adult Day Center. In addition, plans, organizes, directs, and participates in a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program tailored to the general and individualized needs and limitations of adult program participants.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.

• Minimum two years' experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services to the adult population within the past 5 years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting. Should be able to work effectively in a team environment and be proficient with technology.

• Education or training in mood disorders, PTSD, preferred

• CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)

• Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

• Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.

• Must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.Skills and Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and practices of adults including assessment, care plan development, monitoring, and evaluation needs.

• Working knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and behavioral needs of the adult population.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated creative abilities to plan, develop and implement varied activities to meet diversified needs.

• Familiarity with social aspects that may affect an adult's level of functioning, specifically mood related disorders (depression, PTSD, anxiety)

• Be able to confidently operate computer, copy, printer, scanner and be proficient with EMR and virtual meeting capabilities (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
