Position Purpose:

Provides overall direction and leadership for therapy services within Mount Sinai Hospital, Holy Cross and Schwab

Rehabilitation Hospital to ensure the effective administrative management of clinical functions and professional

advancements related to personnel, processes, and policy to meet the mission of patient care, education and

research. The scope of this position includes therapy services in acute care hospitals, outpatient campus and

satellite locations - pediatric services, and acute inpatient rehabilitation (IRF) settings. Works to continually

achieve and exceed budget matrix, looking to new services and improving current ones.

Key Job Activities:

Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or

registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.

Supports the Therapy Department managers and caregivers so achievement of patient and

organizational goals are realized.

Responsible for the quality improvement activities for the Therapy Department including, but not limited

to, addressing high volume/high risk/problem prone factors of the specific departments/clinical areas.

Prepares monthly statistical and financial reports of departmental activities, devises action plans and

implements as necessary.

Responsible for personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, departmental goal setting merit

recommendations, timely performance evaluations, promotions, transfers, terminations, etc. Promotes

positive relationships with staff. Interviews, hires, evaluates, educates and trains caregivers for job

responsibilities.

Develops and implements new programs and services for inpatients and outpatients as appropriate.

Works with customer to meet operational needs.

Ensures caregivers have adequate tools to achieve optimal patient outcomes through the development

of expense and capital budgets for areas of responsibility. Monitors and addresses variances in actual to

budget performance.

Responsible for compliance with appropriate regulatory and designated accreditation standards and

practice acts for the disciplines within her/his areas of responsibility.

Ensures development and implementation of outcomes management and associated performance

targets including, but not limited to, patient satisfaction surveys, physician relations, caregiver

satisfaction, and continuing education. Monitors variances and recommend and implement action

plans as needed.

Coordinates activities with other, leaders and departments throughout the Health System to ensure

efficient, seamless service.

Professional role model and mentor to staff. Responds positively to change and supporting colleagues

through the change process.

Serves as a change agent to facilitate communication and process transition that supports the mission of

the organization.

Ensures a work force that is diverse and cognizant of the value diversity brings to the workplace.

Responsible for addressing the learning needs of caregiver. Identifies, prioritizes and makes available

continuing education opportunities (both internal and external) to address the skill development of

individual caregivers as well as the needs of the department within budgetary guidelines.

Maintains liaison with affiliated/referring hospitals and/or agencies to ensure positive and productive

relationships as appropriate.

Ensures departmental, hospital and health system changes are communicated in a timely and effective

manner to caregivers.

Represents the clinical operational areas in meetings, conferences and other affairs of an administrative

nature.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:

Must be a graduate of an accredited program in PT, OT, or Speech; Master's in Business Administration or

Hospital Administration preferred.

3-5 years of progressive management experience in a rehab setting.

Experience should include responsibility for inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, as well as a

staff of a significant enough size to demonstrate ability to manage a large staff.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

Current License as PT, OT, or Speech Pathologist

Sinai's benefit programs with the exception for City of Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick Leave (Sick-C), PPO

Medical Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and non-match eligible contribution to the Sinai Health

System Consolidated 403(b) retirement savings plan.
