RESPONSIBILITIES
**I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
Provides respiratory therapy and diagnostics per physician order for patients of all ages.
**II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: All essential designated by frequency.**
Essential: seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, carrying/lifting weight up to maximum 35 pounds, pushing/pulling weight up to maximum 50 pounds of force, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions; static gripping of an object. .
Occasional: sitting.
Operates respiratory therapy equipment such as ventilators, gas delivery systems, treatment equipment, blood gas analyzers, etc., syringes, and office type equipment such as computer and copier.
**III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:**
Exposure to safety hazards, disease or contamination.
May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
Exposure to infection and disease-bearing specimens; hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes; blood borne diseases.
Exposure to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment; housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals; toxic chemicals.
Subjected to electrical and radiant energy hazards; flammable, explosive gases.
Subjected to varying and unpredictable situations.
May perform emergency care.
**IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
**A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:**
Current Respiratory Therapy license in the State of Hawaii.
Current BLS-HCP, ACLS, and PALS CPR certification.
NRP certification obtained within 90 days from date of entrance into the position.
**B. EXPERIENCE:**
Three (3) years experience in all phases of respiratory therapy with a minimum of two (2) years acute care experience including adults, children, and newborns.
