Overview

Good Shepherd is currently seeking a Speech Pathology Manager to join our team.

This role offers the opportunity to serve as a working manager, balancing patient care with key leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will provide clinical services while also dedicating time to managing and guiding the department.

Responsibilities

Definition of Position:

The manager of speech language pathology directs, develops, implements and controls the operations of the Speech Department. Maintains qualified staff and ensures that adequate staffing needs are met. Provides training to staff where necessary. Maintains Quality Control, instrument and operational records. Acts as a client service representative to patients and physician offices.

Represents GSHCS in a professional manner to patients, providers, visitors and/or other staff members while performing job duties, as evidenced by appropriate language, dress, and conduct.

Participates in the Performance Improvement process. Maintains quality and efficiency standards as set by supervisor and makes recommendations for improvements.

Participate in activities that promote professional growth and self-development. Attend pertinent in-services, departmental and other meetings as requested by supervisor.

Adheres to GSHCS standards for timeliness and dependability.

Identifies work-related problems with possible solutions and implements solution(s) when appropriate.

Maintains a constant awareness of the legal aspects of position and demonstrates this in decisions related to job performance issues.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with GSHCS policies and procedures.

Maintains and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of departmental safety policies and procedures as they pertain to the job, including the fire and disaster plans.

Maintains a safe environment for patients, guests, and staff.

Maintains confidentially and assures protected health information and other sensitive information are managed appropriately.

Must be able to supervisor others and plan, organize and implement activities. Maintains cooperative and collaborative relations with fellow employees, physicians, patients, other customers and business contacts.

Establishes and meets goals, plans & timetables.

Represents the physical therapy department in working as part of GSHCS team.

Keeps Sr. Director of Ancillary, management, colleagues & stakeholders informed about work status, problems, and issues.

Represents GSHCS with business partners & customers.

Communications

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to meet and communicate verbally with the public in a positive and meaningful way and be able to work at a fast pace while remaining in control with the situation being dealt with.

Able to utilize written communication effectively.

Establishes a therapeutic presence by using people-centered team skills of differentiation, compassionate listening, and knowledge of the change/transition process in situations involving emotions, life/death transition, and/or conflict.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education

Required: Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited program of Speech/Language Pathology.

Preferred: Master's degree in business administration or health care management.

Licenses/ certifications/ registrations

Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language Hearing Association. BLS.

Experience

Required: Previous administrative/supervisory experience in a hospital speech language pathology department. A working knowledge of evidence-based speech language pathology guidelines. Enthusiasm for business development and expanding opportunities, ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance, desire to achieve high standards of success within the organization.
