Position Summary:
The Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor will create and sustain standards of practice for meaningful activities in St John's and will oversee quality assurance for the practice of TR in the organization. This person will be called upon to find solutions to issues concerning the resident, family and facility which impact quality of life and well-being on neighborhoods and through support of the community programming and events. In addition to maintaining quality oversight for the day to day practice of TR through policy, practice and education, this leadership position directly supervises one interdisciplinary clinical neighborhood in the home.
Qualifications & Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related human service field
At least two year experience in the long term care industry
Excellent computer skills
Prior experience with older adults and people living with dementia preferred
Ability to interact with elders and care for their needs
Willingness to embrace and exemplify St. John's Brand Characteristics

Position Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Administration in planning the role of TR in facility services
Contribute to the formulation, review and amendment of TR policies and operational procedures in accordance with administrative organization of the facility
Contribute to Quality Assurance initiatives with responsibility as an active member in various committees; CQI, HIPPA, Interdisciplinary Policy and Procedure and Clinical Leadership
Responsible for the day to day operations of the TR functions which includes regular quality review for TR standards, support of neighborhood leadership, and ensuring and advocating for TR staffing patterns, conducting staff meetings, carrying a caseload and provide coverage as needed.
Directly Grow an interdisciplinary team of Dietician, Social Work, Environmental services, TR to highest neighborhood quality outcomes
Maintain statistical and analytical reports of TR attendance, offerings, and clinical education
Oversee TR and MT internship programs
Prepare annual budget and initiate procedure to control costs
Maintain certification requirements among team
Ensure the proper utilization of audiovisual equipment
Ensure proper maintenance of TR and MT equipment
Physical Requirements:
Frequent moving and lifting of residents: Involving lifting, pushing, pulling and bending (up to 75 pounds). Frequently squatting and occasionally reaching.
Exposure to Conditions:
May provide care to individuals with infectious diseases. May be subject or exposed to experiences that involve physical aggression. Occasional use of complex electrical equipment.
