Role & Responsibility:

  • Serves as a supervisor for Respiratory staff who provide direct patient care. Also oversees department operations to ensure efficiency and availability of resources to address patient needs.
  • Is an active member of the leadership team, supporting overall department functions to ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Applies scientific knowledge, technical expertise and theory to practical clinical problems and is often required to exercise clinical judgment.
  • Acts as liaison to physicians and other members of the health care team.

Location & Schedule:

SCHEDULE

  • Monday | 10 Hour Day Shift
  • 3 Additional 10 Hour Night Shifts (Tuesday - Thursday)

LOCATION

  • ONSITE | Children's WI Hospital Wauwatosa Main Campus

Education, License & Certification:

  • Current license by the State of Wisconsin as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with current registered Respiratory Therapist credential. Current supervisors who graduated prior to January 1, 2005 will be grandfathered with current CRT credential

  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required within 6 months of hire.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire for supervisor with neonatal ICU responsibilities.

  • Completion of respiratory therapy program. Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist preferred.

  • Bachelors degree preferred.

Experience :

  • Three years of adult and/or pediatric experience, including pediatric/neonatal disease and special respiratory care procedures.

  • Previous experience as team lead and /or participation in teams/groups.

  • Experience with an EHR strongly preferred.

  • Communicates effectively in a timely manner. Collaboratively maintains effective working relationships with the health care team in solving problems/issues in delivery of services.

  • Requires a high level of analytical skills and critical thinking skills to evaluate problems, develop plans and procedures to achieve resolution/completion and evaluate effectiveness.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must be willing and able to safely travel in both modes of vehicle transport: ground ambulance and helicopter.

  • There is potential for personal injury from equipment or instruments and vehicular accidents.

  • Must complete annual Physical Capacity Exam and pass within CHW standards.
