QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid New Jersey Occupational Therapist Certificate
- Shall have attained a passing score on the National Certification Examination administered through the Certification Examination administered through the Certification Board of the American Occupational Therapy Association and be qualified as a registered occupational therapist.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Occupational Therapist shall be responsible for screening and evaluating students to determine eligibility for services, developing individual therapy plans, providing therapy directly to students, consulting with teachers regarding interventions, and conducting in-service for staff and training sessions for parents.
- Develop and implement procedures to screen children who are partially eligible for occupational therapy.
- Evaluate children for occupational therapy in accordance with professional standards.
- Design individual therapy plans for children receiving services; coordinate recommendations with teachers and other related service providers.
- Deliver direct services to children individually and in small groups in accordance with the Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Maintain current lists of eligible students and their programs.
- Organize the occupational therapy schedule for students in a manner which minimizes fragmentation of services.
- Develop strategies and techniques for integrating occupational therapy into the educational program.
- Evaluate progress of students in relation to the occupational therapy goals and objectives.
- Prepare evaluation reports and mid-year and end-of-the-year reports on all children receiving occupational therapy.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with parents and teachers regarding the occupational therapy program in general and the progress of individual students.
- The Occupational Therapist shall be responsible for screening and evaluating students to determine eligibility for services, developing individual therapy plans, providing therapy directly to students, consulting with teachers regarding interventions, and conducting in-service for staff and training sessions for parents.
- Work closely with the teachers and Pupil Support Committees (PSC) in developing intervention plans for general education students when appropriate.
- Participate in parent conferences and IEP meetings regarding individual students receiving services.
- Conduct at least three yearly meetings for parents regarding the occupational therapy program and its application to home activities.
- Conduct at least five meetings for staff members annually about occupational therapy and its integration into the education program.
- Provide consultation services to staff regarding accommodations or modifications within the classroom.
- Assess students for assistive devices or arrange for evaluations with appropriate specialists.
- Prepare monthly reports on work activities.
- Order equipment and supplies for the occupational therapy program
- Assist the Director of Pupil Services in budgeting and planning the occupational therapy program.
- Contract Terms: 184 days/year

Salary: In accordance with the established Morris School District Salary Guide currently ranging from $64,425 - $115,315

Effective September 1, 2011, The New Jersey First Act implemented May 17, 2011, requires all employees of a school district to reside in the state of New Jersey. Employees of the Morris School District hired after the effective date who do not reside in the State of New Jersey at the time of hire have one year from the effective date of employment to relocate their primary residence to New Jersey. Employees of the school district hired prior to the September 1, 2011 effective date of this Act are grandfathered and are not required to relocate to New Jersey.
