Occupational Therapy Assistant - PRN

The primary responsibility of the Occupational Therapy Assistant is to provide treatment under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to help patients improve their independence and functional abilities.

Essential Functions
An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Administer treatment programs based on individualized plans designed by the Occupational Therapist
  • Assist in developing therapy activities to each patients needs and capabilities
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and families in therapy techniques and safety precautions
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with privacy regulations
  • Participate in emergency procedures and staff in-services
  • Uphold resident- centered care values, confidentiality, and teamwork
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program according to the AOTA and ACOTE standards
  • Must have initial certification obtained from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
  • Must be licensed and/ or eligible for licensure as required in the state of practice
  • Requires good organizational and time management skills
  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills

Physical Activities

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs

Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds

Full range of motion in all joints; visually observe residents physical condition
