Carroll University seeks an Adjunct Instructor of Occupational Therapy for the Spring of 2026

Course: OTH563 Interventions in Pediatric & Developmental Dysfunction I with laboratory 3cr

Time/Days: 9:00-2:20pm Fridays, Center for Graduate Studies

Brief Couse Description: This course will introduce the role and function of occupational therapy with pediatric populations and settings through the use of theories and models. Typical and atypical development of the child from birth through adolescence will be examined through evaluation and assessment. Evidence-based evaluation and screening, and intervention planning for dysfunction and health promotion are emphasized throughout the occupational therapy process and within the scope of occupational therapy practice. Critical reasoning will be utilized through documentation of evaluation and assessment findings.

Qualifications: An earned Masters' degree from an institution that is accredited by the USDE-recognized regional accrediting body; minimum of three years documented clinical practice as an occupational therapist with a demonstrated knowledge of current occupational therapy practice; superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills needed for working with diverse stakeholders. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the State of Wisconsin and have initial NBCOT certification. Applicant should be proficient in computer technology and possess strong organizational skills. Strong desire to work in higher education Official transcripts due upon hire.

The Program: The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program is an accelerated program consisting of six consecutive semesters of full-time study in two calendar years. Specific modules, activities, and learning experiences within the MOT program are shared among graduate health science programs to support true inter-professional education and prepare students for collaboration in their clinical practice area.

MOT embraces the concept of healthy occupational engagement as a determinant of health. It acknowledges the essence of healthy life participation lies in meaningful occupation, which is an experience unique to each person and the context in which they exist. Diversity is an essential factor for humanity. There lies the link between one's unique experiences and Occupational Therapy practice. This is the core philosophy and mission of the MOT program.

The College: The College of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments; Public Health, Athletic Training, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Department of Movement Sciences. The mission of the College of Health Science is to educate students to be innovative professionals who collaborate to serve the health needs of their communities. The College of Health Sciences currently accounts for ~60% of University enrollment. A dynamic and growing entity, College wide foci include interprofessional education and practice, the integrated approach to health, innovative learning and healthcare technologies, community partnerships and service to medically underserved populations. To support these initiatives the University has renovated a medical arts building to house and support its service learning and Community Health Service programs and partnered with the Waukesha Free Clinic at Carroll University. The College supports the interdisciplinary nature of health science education and has received federal and private foundation grant awards to support these, as well as program specific initiatives.
