Our dedicated, expert team at AdventHealth South Overland Park, formerly Shawnee Mission Health Overland Park, provides excellent care to communities of southeastern Johnson County, with 24/7 emergency room services, an advanced imaging center, physical therapy and more.
The role youll contribute:
The Respiratory Therapist provides direct respiratory care to patients in all areas of the hospital as outlined in Pulmonary Services procedure manual. Is knowledgeable in providing and evaluating the routine as well as critical care modes of respiratory care. Responsible for the effective and optimal administration of modalities based upon assessment and evaluation. Provides recommendations and/or changes to care based on patient's current status.

Oversees the day-to-day departmental operational and clinical activities.
Supervises staffs and gives technical direction, delegation of staff responsibilities.
Interprets and directs the implementation of respiratory programs, policies and procedures and assumes the responsibility for ensuring that the programs meet hospitals accreditation standards.
Hires, mentors, reviews and counsels non-management employees.
Directs the orientation of new employees, as well as oversees the training for new employees as needed.
Provides timely communication on pertinent information to the Director.
Manages positions within the department to achieve quality and productivity and meet budget.
Develops the annual operations and capital budgets.
Manages the department budget (measures, monitors, and balances human and material resources).
Provides input and collaboration for strategic planning for system / facility and community.
Monitors staff productivity in order to increase effectiveness and efficiency and to reduce administrative cost.
The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree in Respiratory Therapy
Minimum 3 years Respiratory Therapy experience in an acute-care setting
Previous leadership experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
5 years of position-related experience
