Scope of Job
This position is for scholarly research and may include clinical research.
Duties to include:
1. Data Collection & Experimentation
Assist with the setup, calibration, and operation of biomechanical lab equipment, including motion capture systems, force platforms, EMG sensors, and other relevant tools.
Recruit, screen, and schedule study participants for research trials in accordance with IRB protocols.
Conduct biomechanical experiments involving human subjects including mechanical testing of devices used for experimentation.
2. Data Processing & Analysis
Process and analyze motion capture, EMG, force plate, and/or musculoskeletal modeling data using specialized software (e.g., Visual3D, MATLAB, etc.).
Perform statistical analyses of experimental data using programs like SPSS.
3. Literature Review & Writing
Conduct thorough literature reviews on current topics in biomechanics, kinesiology, or human movement disorders.
Assist in writing research papers, abstracts, conference posters, and grant proposals.
Maintain accurate and organized lab notebooks and data logs.
4. Lab Maintenance & Compliance
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the biomechanics lab space.
Ensure all equipment is in working order and assist with repairs or troubleshooting when necessary.
Comply with institutional safety regulations and human subjects research protocols.
5. Collaboration & Communication
Attend regular lab meetings and contribute to group discussions about ongoing projects.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other graduate/undergraduate researchers.
Present research findings at departmental seminars, academic conferences, or community outreach events.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and current enrollment in master's degree in field of biomechanics, kinesiology, biomedical sciences, and other health-related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in kinesiology and/or biomechanics preferred.
Salary$1,250 monthly
