Job Summary
  • Under the guidance and direction of an Occupational Therapist, a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) assists the Occupational Therapist with therapeutic exercises, activities, and activities of daily living skill training to implement treatment plans to facilitate the return of the patient to a normal pattern of movement and functioning as much as possible in inpatient and outpatient settings. The primary functions are to perform patient related activities, including utilizing techniques and procedures that are commensurate with education skill and training. Certified Occupational Therapists are responsible for the communication of care to occupational therapy staff or others to assist in evaluating patient information for planning, modifying, or coordinating treatment. There may be incidences where the Occupational Therapy Assistant will work with contracted schools to provide skilled occupational therapy intervention to children who qualify for services under an Individualized Education Program (IEP) under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

    • Required: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
  • Experience
    • No prior experience required
  • Skills
    • Good clinical expertise, communication skills, human relations skills and organizational skills required.
    • Self-motivated individual who can work independently with little direct supervision required
    • Has demonstrated interest in professional growth by attendance at continuing education workshops, and applications of new principles and/or techniques.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • Required: License for Occupational Therapy Assistant active in the state of Missouri Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
