Position Summary\:

Under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist, the Rehab Tech assists in direct patient treatment for disabilities, injuries, and diseases.

May also perform the following duties\:

• Prepares patients, treatment room and equipment for physical therapy sessions. Ensures equipment is clean and ready to use and performs final cleaning at close of department, in preparation for first morning patient.

• Assists patients with dressing, undressing, and donning treatment garments while maintaining patients privacy and modesty.

• Obtains and/or prepares equipment, materials, supplies and positions them appropriately for use.

• Cares for patients during treatment and notifies the therapist of any problems with equipment. Stops equipment and notifies therapist at completion of prescribed treatment period.

• Assists the therapist with supporting patients during ambulation (walking) and gait training (training patients to walk properly) to prevent injuries from falling.

• Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to staff Physical Therapist, nursing and other hospital personnel, as appropriate.

• Transports patients according to scheduled appointment time and maintains compliance with safety policies during transport at all times.

• Documents treatment information when directed by therapist. Distributes exercise instruction sheets to patients.

Minimum Qualifications\:

• Experience\: Experience in a medical setting is desirable. Satisfactory completion of Physical Therapy Aide Competency Evaluation and job training preferred

• Certifications\: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire.
