Recreational Therapy Coordinator

Perimeter Behavioral of Springfield has immediate openings for an Activities Coordinator We are seeking individuals who are committed to improving the lives of those who are experiencing mental health problems.

We offer a range of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, and outpatient counseling and therapies.

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities include some of the following:

• Work as an extension of the clinical team providing support and enrichment activities
• Provide recreation and structured group activities in accordance with the master treatment plan
• Execute arts and crafts, physical exercise and developmental life skills
• Execute activity groups as outlined by the program schedule
• Document in the medical record groups including client participation and response.
• Provide appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors
• Use appropriate therapeutic skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements
• Maintain appropriate boundaries and promote a positive peer culture
• Write progress notes for one-to-one and group sessions according to policies and procedures.

Please apply if you have the following qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in social work or related field, (counseling, recreation therapy) preferred
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in an inpatient or outpatient mental health setting preferred
• Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR and Handle with Care Training within 30 days of employment
• Schedule: Full-Time
