Description

Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285-bed long-term care facility that has served more than 2,782 Veterans from all branches of the armed forces since admitting the first resident on August 25, 1991. Thomson-Hood is the largest facility operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is looking for a self-motivated Energetic Recreation Aide that has the desire to care for Kentucky's Veterans.

Expectations for this position include but are not limited to:

• Organizes and oversees recreational outings,including supervision of residents and volunteers.
• Interacts with residents on a one on one basis to provide individual recreational activities.
• Responsible for sorting and delivery of mail.
• Assist recreational leaders in activities such as parties,games,socials,outings and special events.
• Responsible for purchasing and delivery of weekly town orders.
• Responsible for maintaining daily participation records of residents in activities.
• Assist in decorating for special events and activities and holidays.

Working Conditions

Typically works in an institutional, hospital facility, or summer camp facility. Typically work is of a moderate physical nature and often in an outdoor setting conducting recreational activities usually with student campers, long-term care residents, hospital patients, or inmates.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
