Overview
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) prepares clinical and progress notes; participates in teaching the patient and family; and participates in in-service programs and case conferences. Following an evaluation by an Occupational Therapist, the assistant will follow the plan of care and perform COTA procedures as allowed by referral to aid restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities. This position must also be able to follow and adhere to the practices described in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual. Required to be flexible with daily scheduling and may be required to work various patient care settings.
What you will do
- Employee's individual productivity measures are satisfactory based on FTE/status and average number of assigned patients in case load.
- Completes documentation that supports skilled intervention and adherence to plan of care. Completes documentation per department policies and procedures.
- Follows Plan of care and performs COTA procedures as allowed by referral to aid restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities.
- Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.
- Participates in facility meetings, departmental meetings, in-services, educational programs, and other meetings to include solutions and engagement with resolution processes.
Qualifications
Education
- Associates Degree, Occupational Therapy Assistant (Required)
- Program Graduate, Occupational Therapy Assistant Program (Required)
Experience
- 1 year Healthcare experience (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age, goal, and diagnosis appropriate care.
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span, be able to assess patients' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data, and be able to interpret information to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care accordingly per patient care setting.
Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Inc (NBCOT) Upon Hire(Required)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
- Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
- Valid Drivers License Required
