ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:40-hour work week, three rotating shifts, Monday - Sunday 7:00am - 3:30pm and 11:30am - 8:00pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring work order priorities using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to analyze work order backlog, resources available, asset criticality, maintenance schedules, safety plans, and job plans for different types of equipment work. Responsible for ensuring all field work in accordance with City Standards, AWWA Standards and with TCEQ regulations for all field crew and construction crew work.

  • Lead team in Water Distributions or WW Collections for emergency and planned work in accordance with City Standards.
  • Direct and lead a team of Utility Technicians in advanced and specialized activities for the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of water and waste water systems.
  • Perform data analysis to forecast issues that may affect departmental performance standards.
  • Coordinate new Water Distribution and WW Collections system infrastructure projects by communicating with contractors and project manager on installations and testing.
  • Conduct planning sessions with work coordinators, general foreman and crew leads in and around Utility Division work sites.
  • Participate in group meetings and help develop effective work strategies and protocols to resolve issues of concern.
  • Train and ensure employees and crews comply with worksite safety plans.
  • Supervise a team of full time and/or temporary employees assigned to Water Distribution and WW Collections crew(s).
  • Responsible for documenting work done using CMMS.
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting reports and cost estimates when required.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints pertaining to water distribution and wastewater collection system issues.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience
  • A TCEQ Class C Water Distribution License or WW III Collections License is required
  • A second TCEQ issued Utilities License or a Class A CDL required
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
