LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport NY 14450; Various Sites
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 Month Position, Full Time
STARTING DATE: As Soon As Possible
SALARY RANGE: $37,400 - $50,960 per year
- Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.
DUTIES:
- Travels to school sites to perform scheduled equipment checks and responds to requests to troubleshoot, repair or replace audiometric and related equipment.
- Provides in-service education and training to classroom staff and students on the correct use and maintenance of amplification systems and assistive listening devices.
- Assists audiologists in performing Functional Listening Evaluations in the field.
- Performs listening checks on equipment and employs procedures to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
- Acts as a liaison between teachers, students and licensed audiologists to ensure all audiometric needs are met and equipment issues are resolved.
- Acknowledge, respond, and document troubleshooting calls within 48 hours.
- Monitors and maintains inventory of audiometric equipment and parts, orders parts and equipment, tracks purchase orders, and monitors service contracts.
- Maintains records and prepares reports.
- Works with department clerk to ensure purchase orders are billed appropriately.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Civil Service eligibility as Senior Audiometric Technician: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology or Audiology or a closely related field; OR
(B) Successful completion of sixty (60) college semester credit hours from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience working one-on-one with children* with special needs; OR
(C) Four (4) years paid full-time, or its part-time equivalent experience as described in (B) above; OR
(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

Four (4) years' full-time (or its part-time equivalent) experience as an Audiometric Aide preferred.
Experience with computers, spreadsheets, and word processing.
Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
