Massage Therapist

Empath Health is currently seeking a Massage Therapist to join our team.

This position serves patients in Charlotte, Desoto, and Sarasota County (SOUTH of Clark Road)

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with the IDT, identify patient/family problems that would benefit from Massage Therapy intervention.
• Provide ongoing assessments of the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patient/family and initiate appropriate massage therapy intervention consistent with Empath Health philosophy.
• Maintain clinical records, including, but not limited to, progress notes and patient care plan.
• Communicate with IDT members about significant patient/family issues in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Empath Health policies and procedures and pertinent State and Federal Rules and Regulations.
• Participates at Interdisciplinary Team meetings; attends specialized department meetings; attends Empath Health inservice and educational programs.
• Represent Empath Health at professional organizations in the community and speak in the community on Empath Health or other subjects as requested.
• Educate staff and the community about the role of the Massage Therapist and the use of massage therapy interventions with patients/families.
• Teach simple techniques to caregivers or family members to provide comfort to patients.
• Assess massage therapy supply needs in collaboration with RPD.
• Assist with the development and evaluation of massage therapy services.
• Assist with orientation of new employees and training of volunteers as requested.
• Serve as a resource in the care community and provides outreach activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the RPD.

Position Qualifications /Requirements:

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; 2-4 years paid experience in massage therapy, with emphasis in medical field preferred.

• Licensure:

• Valid Florida Massage Therapist License

• Valid Florida State Driver's License

• Continuing Education: As required for licensure.

• For field-based positions, employees must have reliable transportation, which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee's HR file.
