Description

  • Assess patients from childhood through adulthood using recognized evaluation tools and keen observational skills.
  • Craft individualized therapy plans that target immediate objectives as well as long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges.
  • Deliver personalized speech therapy sessions that enhance language, voice, fluency, and swallowing functions.
  • Work in partnership with occupational and physical therapists, nurses, doctors, clients, and their families to form unified care plans.
  • Provide education to patients and families to support continued progress and understanding beyond therapy sessions.
  • Occasionally assist with inpatient evaluations and treatments, ensuring smooth transitions in care during the healing journey.
  • Maintain thorough and prompt documentation in compliance with state, federal, and institutional standards.
  • Engage in ongoing education and network with peers to stay abreast of advancements in speech-language pathology.

Education

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.

Certifications

  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within the first month of employment.
