Speech-Language Pathologist
The Speech Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment of both children and adults who demonstrate speech, language, cognitive-linguistic and/or swallowing decits. Settings include inpatient, swing bed, and outpatient (primary).
Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and values of RVMC.
Supervisory Duties: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
1.Evaluates and diagnoses speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
2.Assesses and interprets patient evaluations and test results.
3.Treats speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
4.Provides training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals.
5.Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition including type and frequency of treatment.
6.Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identied and involves the healthcare team as well as the patient/family.
7.Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
8.Maintains interactive communication with patients (and families when appropriate).
9.Communicates effectively with other professionals and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
10.Practices hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
11.Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
12.Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support resources.
13.Assists with office duties for scheduling, billing, and transferring of data.
14.Oversees patient care and manages patient reports to providers as needed.
15.Complies with state and federal regulations with regards to speech-language pathology practices and services.
16.Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to professional development.
17.Maintains department les and records according to state, federal, and RVMC guidelines.
18.Ensures proper documentation is completed in a timely manner for all patients both in the hospital and clinic settings.

Minimum Qualications and/or Licensure:
Graduate of accredited school for Speech-Language Pathology with a master's degree or higher preferred.
Current professional license for the State of Montana required.
BLS certication required.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift 25 pounds to assist fallen residents.
Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
May be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards.
