Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Respiratory Therapist (PRN) position is to participate in and oversee the care of Residents with tracheostomy/stoma as prescribed by the attending physician, consistent with accepted standards of care and within the scope of RT training and licensure.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited School and a current and valid license in the applicable State
- Minimum of one-year experience in a long-term or health care setting is preferred
- Knowledge of current trach care treatments and dressings
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
Essential Functions:
- Observes, assesses, and treats Residents with trachs according to community polices, Federal, State, and local regulations
- Documents assessment and all related treatments in the medical record
- Consults with Director of Nurses/Attending Physician regarding changes in Residents tracheostomy care and condition
- Administers medications and treatments as prescribed
- Identifies and secures equipment and supplies for trach care, changing tubing and all replaceable equipment on a weekly basis
- Ensures a safe environment for Resident population
- Has reviewed Cantex Senior Communities Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employee's responsibility to enforce it
- Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
