Major duties include but are not limited to:
Plans, coordines, and carries out Occupional Therapy evaluions and interventions for referred veterans to restore function, compense for dysfunction and improve quality of life and independence.
Demonstres the ability to assess and develop occupional profiles for the OT trement of pients across multiple ages, diagnoses, and environments.
Utilizes knowledge of adaptive equipment and environmental adaptions with all pients seen, making or recommendion modificions as needed; seeks out additional options for pients as needed
Schedules veterans for trement, considering priority and frequency of care and coordining schedules with other members of the trement team.
Assures all documention is done in a timely manner as per documention policy for all veteran s.
Functions on a multidisciplinary team, representing the Rehabilition Department by communicing directly with team members such as Veteran's physician, nursing personnel.
Continues to maintain and learn advanced skills in this area by tending continuing educion courses and training when applicable.
Always utilizes equipment appropriely and ensures safe operion.
Responds appropriely to emergency situions; demonstres compliance with fire, disaster, and infection control policies.
Participes in developing departmental protocols, policies, and teaching merials.
Perform set-up and pre-cleaning for all reusable medical equipment per policy.

Basic Requirements :

Educion and/or Experience: The individual must meet least one of the following requirements below (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).
Bachelor's degree in occupional therapy and two (2) years of experience as an occupional therapist.
NOTE: The baccalauree degree must be from an approved program prior to the AOTA January 1, 2005 decision th the Accredition Council for Occupional Therapy Educion (ACOTE) would only accredit master or doctoral degree programs in occupional therapy.
Or
Bachelor's degree in occupional therapy and two (2) full years of gradue educion in a reled field
NOTE: The baccalauree degree must be from an approved program prior to the AOTA January 1, 2005 decision th ACOTE would only accredit master or doctoral degree programs in occupional therapy.
Or
Master's Degree or higher in occupional therapy.
Individuals must be a gradue of] a degree program in occupional therapy approved by the ACOTE or predecessor organizions. This is inclusive of an internship (supervised fieldwork experience required by the educional institution). ACOTE is the only accredition agency recognized by the United Stes Department of Educion and the Council for Higher Educion Accredition. Degree programs may be verified by contacting the American Occupional Therapy Associion website or their office address: American Occupional Therapy Associion, P.O. Box 31220, Bethesda, MD 20824-1220.
Foreign Gradues: Gradues of foreign occupional therapy programs meet the requirements of subparagraph [3b(2)] if they have a current, full, active and unrestricted license referred to in subparagraph [3e] of this appendix.
Certificion: Candides must possess a current NBCOT certificion as an OT.
Ste Licensure: Candides must possess a full, current, and unrestricted ste license, to practice occupional therapy in a ste, territory or Commonwealth of the United Stes (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia.
Exceptions for the Gradue Occupional Therapist:
(1) OT gradues from an approved occupional therapy program who otherwise meet the minimum qualificion requirements, but who do not possess NBCOT certificion and/or ste licensure, may be appointed, pending certificion and/or licensure, as a gradue OT on a full-time temporary appointment not-to exceed two years under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405(c)(2).
(2) Gradue OTs may only be appointed the GS-9 grade level and may not be promoted/converted to the GS-11 level until licensure and/or certificion is obtained. For grades levels or above the developmental GS-11 grade level, the OT must be certified and licensed.
(3) A gradue OT may provide care only under the direct supervision of a licensed OT who meets all ste regulory requirements.
Grandfhering Provision: May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).
English Proficiency: Candides must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
Grade Determinion
Occupional Therapist, GS-9
(1) Educion, Experience, or Licensure. None beyond the basic requirements.
Occupional Therapist, GS-11
(1) Educion, Experience, or Licensure.
(a) Completion of one year of experience equivalent to least the GS-9 grade level and directly reled to the position being filled;
or
(b) Three years of progressively higher level gradue educion leading to a degree in occupional therapy or a directly reled field;
or
(c) Doctore in occupional therapy.
(2) Demonstred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). In addition to the experience or educion above, the candide must demonstre all of the following KSAs:
(a) Knowledge of occupional therapy practice.
(b) Ability to administer/interpret evaluion findings to develop and coordine intervention plans, including goals and methods of trement.
(c) Ability to implement intervention plans directly or in collaborion with others.
(d) Skill in monitoring an individual's response to interventions and modify trement plans and reevaluing as indiced.
(e) Ability to communice and or collabore with pients, family members, caregivers, interdisciplinary professionals and/or other individuals verbally and in writing.
(f) Knowledge of health and safety regulions to minimize risk in the provision of pient care and the environment of care.
(g) Knowledge of applicable regulions governing documention, reimbursement and workload entry in accordance with established professional practice.
Occupional Therapist, GS-12
(1) Educion, Experience, and Licensure: Completion of one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level and directly reled to the position being filled.
(2) Demonstred KSAs: In addition to the [experience above, the candide] must demonstre all of the following KSAs:
(a) Knowledge of occupional therapy principles and techniques consistent with current clinical standards based on OT theory and evidence based practice. Knowledge is inclusive of physical, occupional, cognitive, and psychosocial functional deficits.
(b) Ability to collabore and communice orally and in writing with all internal and external stakeholders.
(c) Ability to use critical analysis, clinical reasoning, and creivity to independently solve complex problems reled to adapting and modifying assessments, trement plans, activities and procedures to meet the needs of pients.
(d) Skill in procuring, fabricing, adjusting, adapting, and modifying orthoses, splints, and adaptive equipment for activities of daily living (inclusive of durable medical equipment).
(e) Ability to conduct OT reled in-service and clinical training.

Major duties include but are not limited to:
Plans, coordines, and carries out Occupional Therapy evaluions and interventions for referred veterans to restore function, compense for dysfunction and improve quality of life and independence.
Demonstres the ability to assess and develop occupional profiles for the OT trement of pients across multiple ages, diagnoses, and environments.
Utilizes knowledge of adaptive equipment and environmental adaptions with all pients seen, making or recommendion modificions as needed; seeks out additional options for pients as needed
Schedules veterans for trement, considering priority and frequency of care and coordining schedules with other members of the trement team.
Assures all documention is done in a timely manner as per documention policy for all veteran s.
Functions on a multidisciplinary team, representing the Rehabilition Department by communicing directly with team members such as Veteran's physician, nursing personnel.
Continues to maintain and learn advanced skills in this area by tending continuing educion courses and training when applicable.
Always utilizes equipment appropriely and ensures safe operion.
Responds appropriely to emergency situions; demonstres compliance with fire, disaster, and infection control policies.
Participes in developing departmental protocols, policies, and teaching merials.
Perform set-up and pre-cleaning for all reusable medical equipment per policy.

Basic Requirements :

Educion and/or Experience: The individual must meet least one of the following requirements below (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).
Bachelor's degree in occupional therapy and two (2) years of experience as an occupional therapist.
NOTE: The baccalauree degree must be from an approved program prior to the AOTA January 1, 2005 decision th the Accredition Council for Occupional Therapy Educion (ACOTE) would only accredit master or doctoral degree programs in occupional therapy.
Or
Bachelor's degree in occupional therapy and two (2) full years of gradue educion in a reled field
NOTE: The baccalauree degree must be from an approved program prior to the AOTA January 1, 2005 decision th ACOTE would only accredit master or doctoral degree programs in occupional therapy.
Or
Master's Degree or higher in occupional therapy.
Individuals must be a gradue of] a degree program in occupional therapy approved by the ACOTE or predecessor organizions. This is inclusive of an internship (supervised fieldwork experience required by the educional institution). ACOTE is the only accredition agency recognized by the United Stes Department of Educion and the Council for Higher Educion Accredition. Degree programs may be verified by contacting the American Occupional Therapy Associion website or their office address: American Occupional Therapy Associion, P.O. Box 31220, Bethesda, MD 20824-1220.
Foreign Gradues: Gradues of foreign occupional therapy programs meet the requirements of subparagraph [3b(2)] if they have a current, full, active and unrestricted license referred to in subparagraph [3e] of this appendix.
Certificion: Candides must possess a current NBCOT certificion as an OT.
Ste Licensure: Candides must possess a full, current, and unrestricted ste license, to practice occupional therapy in a ste, territory or Commonwealth of the United Stes (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia.
Exceptions for the Gradue Occupional Therapist:
(1) OT gradues from an approved occupional therapy program who otherwise meet the minimum qualificion requirements, but who do not possess NBCOT certificion and/or ste licensure, may be appointed, pending certificion and/or licensure, as a gradue OT on a full-time temporary appointment not-to exceed two years under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405(c)(2).
(2) Gradue OTs may only be appointed the GS-9 grade level and may not be promoted/converted to the GS-11 level until licensure and/or certificion is obtained. For grades levels or above the developmental GS-11 grade level, the OT must be certified and licensed.
(3) A gradue OT may provide care only under the direct supervision of a licensed OT who meets all ste regulory requirements.
Grandfhering Provision: May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).
English Proficiency: Candides must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
Grade Determinion
Occupional Therapist, GS-9
(1) Educion, Experience, or Licensure. None beyond the basic requirements.
Occupional Therapist, GS-11
(1) Educion, Experience, or Licensure.
(a) Completion of one year of experience equivalent to least the GS-9 grade level and directly reled to the position being filled;
or
(b) Three years of progressively higher level gradue educion leading to a degree in occupional therapy or a directly reled field;
or
(c) Doctore in occupional therapy.
(2) Demonstred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). In addition to the experience or educion above, the candide must demonstre all of the following KSAs:
(a) Knowledge of occupional therapy practice.
(b) Ability to administer/interpret evaluion findings to develop and coordine intervention plans, including goals and methods of trement.
(c) Ability to implement intervention plans directly or in collaborion with others.
(d) Skill in monitoring an individual's response to interventions and modify trement plans and reevaluing as indiced.
(e) Ability to communice and or collabore with pients, family members, caregivers, interdisciplinary professionals and/or other individuals verbally and in writing.
(f) Knowledge of health and safety regulions to minimize risk in the provision of pient care and the environment of care.
(g) Knowledge of applicable regulions governing documention, reimbursement and workload entry in accordance with established professional practice.
Occupional Therapist, GS-12
(1) Educion, Experience, and Licensure: Completion of one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level and directly reled to the position being filled.
(2) Demonstred KSAs: In addition to the [experience above, the candide] must demonstre all of the following KSAs:
(a) Knowledge of occupional therapy principles and techniques consistent with current clinical standards based on OT theory and evidence based practice. Knowledge is inclusive of physical, occupional, cognitive, and psychosocial functional deficits.
(b) Ability to collabore and communice orally and in writing with all internal and external stakeholders.
(c) Ability to use critical analysis, clinical reasoning, and creivity to independently solve complex problems reled to adapting and modifying assessments, trement plans, activities and procedures to meet the needs of pients.
(d) Skill in procuring, fabricing, adjusting, adapting, and modifying orthoses, splints, and adaptive equipment for activities of daily living (inclusive of durable medical equipment).
(e) Ability to conduct OT reled in-service and clinical training.
