JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent shall be responsible for providing services including treatment and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment, consistent with established professional practices and ethical standards according to their supervising therapist's plan of care. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Must be a graduate of an approved therapy assistant's certification program (Associate level unless otherwise determined).
Personal Job-Related Skills: Can effectively communicate and provide direction to older adults, and persons with disabilities.
License and Certifications: PTA or COTA/OTA currently licensed by the State of Texas. CPR certification is recommended.
PRIOR WORK AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Must have worked or completed a clinical rotation working with older adults and/or persons with disabilities in a hospital, outpatient, or home health setting.
TECHNICAL TRAINING:
Working knowledge and competent capabilities using computer technology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties of this position require:
Ability to lift/transfer patients and equipment as dictated by discipline specific practice acts.
Frequent and prolonged periods of bending, stooping, crouching, walking and standing.
The ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions or directions.
TASKS:
Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Muenster Hospital District.
Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
Follows safety guidelines and all policies and procedures of MHD.
Enters and maintain personal time in time clock system.
Professional area:
Complete continuing education/professional development activities.
Maintain licenses/certification in applicable professional organizations.
Follow all policies and practices of professional organization, MMH, and the rehabilitation department.
Clinical area:

Provide occupational therapy services based on a written plan of care and under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
Collect data for an assessment upon delegation by an occupational therapist.
Work with an occupational therapist in revising a plan of care and/or short-term goals and properly document said changes at the time of change.
Interact with a patient/client regarding his/her condition, progress, and /or achievement of goals during each treatment session.
Teach other healthcare providers, patients, and families to perform selected procedures and functional activities.
Train non-licensed personnel or family members to carry out specific tasks that support the occupational therapy plan of care.
Properly document the course of patient care in line with established standards.
Complete all billing information daily or by set guidelines.
Complete continuing education/professional development activities applicable to maintaining licenses and certifications.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
Quality management area:
Contribute to improving and the efficiency and productivity of tasks and functions within the department.
Contribute to facility relations and marketing activities.
Participate in facility quality management activities and facility committees as requested.
