About the Role
Walmart is seeking a Director of Customer Strategy to lead and shape one of the most critical moments in our customers journeys: moving from store-only engagement to app adoption and first digital purchase . This role sits at the forefront of Walmarts omnichannel strategy, focused on helping our store customers become digital customers.
As a strategic leader, you will identify the most impactful levers to drive app adoption , digital activation , and first purchase conversion and then work cross-functionally to bring those strategies to life at scale. Youll operate at the intersection of digital strategy, customer insights, experimentation, and cross-functional influence, all within a fast-paced and highly matrixed organization.
What Youll Do
- Own the strategy for store-to-app and app-to-first-digital-purchase conversion , partnering closely with in-store, digital product, marketing, CRM, and operations teams.
- Develop and drive cross-functional initiatives that encourage store-only customers to download the app and make their first digital transaction (pickup, delivery, or eComm).
- Champion a test-and-learn mindset , defining A/B and multivariate experiments, building business cases, and promoting adoption of learnings across the organization.
- Conduct deep dives and partner with analytics teams to understand customer segments, behaviors, and conversion pain points , then translate insights into action.
- Build strong relationships across product, marketing, merchandising, store operations, and design , driving alignment and prioritization without direct authority.
- Ensure that strategies are not only sound on paper, but are also operationalized and launched effectively , with clear success metrics and follow-through.
- Lead consistent measurement and evangelize findings from test results to refine customer growth playbooks and inform future initiatives.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in digital customer strategy, growth, eCommerce, or retail transformation; experience in strategy consulting or corporate strategy is highly valued.
- A track record of developing and executing strategies without direct ownership of all resources or teams.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and influence skills , particularly in highly matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with structure and speed.
- Exceptional analytical skills , including comfort building your own models, analyzing test results, and translating insights into business action.
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks is highly attractive.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to tell a compelling story with data .
- MBA preferred , but not required.
