Nemours is seeking a part-time, 20 hour per week, Music Therapist!
Position Summary:
The Music Therapist is responsible for assessing the developmental and therapeutic needs of patients and implementing music-based interventions to support their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. This role involves both individual and group therapy sessions and requires close collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to align with patient care goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine patients needs and strengths.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based music therapy techniques.
- Facilitate therapeutic music experiences including singing, instrument playing, movement, music creation, and listening.
- Monitor and document patient responses to interventions, adjusting plans of care as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate music therapy into the overall treatment plan.
- Maintain accurate records of patient progress and outcomes in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Other Responsibilities:
- Plans and facilitates therapeutic music interventions tailored to patients developmental levels and responses to various experiences.
- Conducts assessments and delivers direct music therapy using harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic instruments, as well as voice, to create a therapeutic musical environment that encourages patient engagement and response.
- Provides developmentally and age-appropriate interventions for patients across the lifespan, including pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support integrated treatment planning and holistic patient care.
- Educates and advocates for music therapy services within the healthcare team, promoting awareness of its benefits and ensuring access for patients in need.
- Maintains timely and accurate documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrates musical proficiency in guitar, voice, piano, percussion, and music technology to support diverse therapeutic goals.
- Applies knowledge of musical styles and repertoire relevant to pediatric populations to enhance therapeutic engagement.
- Utilizes culturally responsive practices, incorporating musical and clinical resources that reflect diverse cultural backgrounds and family systems.
- Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employees supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Board certified or board certified eligible (must obtain within first 3 months of hire), BLS certification w/in 3 months of hire
- 6 months experience required ( Internship completion in a pediatric medical setting )
