Travel Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2+ years of experience for an acute care hospital position requiring expertise in neurology and orthopedics.

Responsibilities
  • Acute care hospital physical therapy unit with a patient ratio of 1:1
  • Day shifts, 4x10-hour schedule (7:30 am - 6:00 pm), with rotating weekday off
  • Participation in full weekend shift every 6 weeks; flex day during the week before and after assigned weekend
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required
  • Floating required within St. Peters/Progress West and as needed for support
  • Epic is used for charting; experience with Epic required
  • Focus on ortho, neuro, general weakness, and pain management cases
  • Responsibilities include evaluation, plan of care creation, reassessment, and implementation of therapeutic interventions for diverse patient populations
  • Daily duties span pain assessment, skin integrity checks, safety, time management, and identifying environmental barriers
  • Team includes therapists with advanced LSVT BIG training for Parkinson's, vestibular, and pelvic floor (not required for agency staff)
  • Tan pants or scrub bottoms and black tops required as dress code
  • Up to 7 days of requested time off permitted during 13-week contracts; no RTO allowed during first week
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Standard travelers can stay up to 18 months with a required 3-month break; allied travelers up to 12 months with a 6-month break
  • FIT testing required; facial hair must allow for proper mask fit
  • Not open to first-time travelers
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience as a Physical Therapist in an acute care setting
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Valid state physical therapy license required; license required if applicable
  • Experience with cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, sports medicine, and outpatient clinic
  • Proficiency with equipment such as gait belts, walkers, crutches, supplemental oxygen, and traction tables
  • Demonstrated skill in assessment, treatment planning, discharge, patient/family education, and thorough documentation
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Must live at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
