Respiratory Therapist

Location: Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital
Department: Respiratory Care
Reports To: Respiratory Care Manager

Summary:
Provides direct respiratory and pulmonary care to patients in a chronic hospital setting, ensuring compliance with hospital, state, and accreditation standards. Delivers compassionate, high-quality care to improve patient outcomes and promote comfort and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer respiratory care treatments and diagnostic procedures as ordered.

• Maintain accurate documentation including care plans, medication records, and patient data.

• Troubleshoot and report equipment issues.

• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other staff.

• Ensure patient safety and infection control in all care activities.

• Support the hospitals Eden Alternative philosophy by promoting patient engagement and well-being.

• Participate in on-call and varied shift duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Care (Bachelors preferred)

• Experience: 13 years in a clinical respiratory care setting

• Licensure & Certifications:

  • Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner License

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Preferred

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

Skills:

• Strong communication and critical thinking skills

• Competence in medical equipment and software (EPIC, Cerner, MS Office)

• Ability to multitask and work under pressure

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or sit for long periods, and respond quickly to emergencies.
