Contractor-Occupational Therapist

North Reading Public Schools is seeking a part-time, contracted, Occupational Therapist provide direct occupational therapy services to students in the district. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

This contract will be for up to 27 hours per week.

Essential duties

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in the district
  • Complete assessments
  • Collaborate and communicate with other members of the educational team including families
  • Participate in team meetings as needed
  • Develop educationally relevant, measurable, and observable goals and objectives with the team
  • Plan and implement occupational therapy interventions, meeting the individual's specific goals and objectives as
    stated in the IEP
  • Provide training to specific members of the educational team for implementation and carry over of program
  • Plan and implement accommodations as outlined in the IEP or 504 plan
  • Document instructional support, pre-referral and referral activities, evaluation reports, intervention notes, progress notes, consultation notes, and summaries for IEP meetings
  • Participate in the decision-making process and implementation for use of assistive technology
  • Participate in the routine management of the occupational therapy program and materials
  • Participate in occupational therapy department meetings as directed
  • Any other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Student Services, Assistant Director of Special Education, and/or their Designee

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Valid license as an Occupational Therapist issued by the MA Board of Registration in Allied Health Professions
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations that govern public schools
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

The hourly range listed is a guide. Final rate will be commensurate with experience.
