Center for Independence is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist to provide specialized care to individuals from birth to early adulthood with physical disabilities including cerebral palsy and other similar neurological deficits. The therapist will assess, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and overall functional independence. This role requires expertise in motor learning techniques, assistive devices, and a collaborative approach with families and interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Passion for working with children and young adults with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy and similar neurological conditions. Strong verbal and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with co-workers and gain rapport with therapy participants and their families Knowledge of adaptive equipment, orthotic management, and mobility aids. Creative mindset for providing treatment in a specialized motor rehabilitation setting. Competence with a variety of computer applications. Essential Functions: Conduct comprehensive transdisciplinary evaluations to assess motor function, muscle tone, postural control, and overall physical and neurological development. Utilize evidence-based interventions and standardized assessments to guide treatment planning and track progress. Prepare and complete standardized assessments, evaluations, and develop treatment plans for therapy participants, from birth to early adulthood with physical disabilities (cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions). Prepare and complete therapeutic documentation required for billing in accordance with health insurance policies Identify and implement therapeutic interventions that address participants' individual gross motor skills, mobility, self-care skills, and additional health care needs. Assess and recommend adaptive equipment, orthotics, and assistive technology to enhance mobility and participation in daily activities. Demonstrate excellent communication skills with people with physical and developmental disabilities, at times utilizing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC devices). Provide strategies and empower therapy participants to carry-over skills acquired in therapy in their home, school, community environments, and in the workforce. Provide family centered support, resources, and parent education. Qualifications Master's or Doctor of Physical Therapy degree National Board for Certification in Physical Therapy PT licensure or license eligible, in the state of Illinois CPR Certification required within 90 days of hire Work Environment and Physical Demands: Ability to lift or carry 30-50 lbs. and to assist in two-person transfer Ability to work in a variety of positions, including on the floor during highly skilled, hands-on therapy Travel Requirements-Some travel within assigned region for treatment, meetings, and supporting staff coverage needs from our main site in Countryside to our 2nd location in Chicago.
