Fitness Center Recreation Aide

Position Title Recreation Aide Department Outdoor Recreation Ctr Department Summary

Under the immediate supervision of the Campus Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Aide is responsible for the supervision of the Melody Hall Fitness Center and its users. Aides are also responsible for opening, closing, and securing the facility. They are to provide service and assistance to all Fitness users. They are also responsible for the appropriate use and cleanliness of all equipment. Additionally, all Campus Recreation employees are required to provide a welcoming, inclusive, safe and enjoyable, service oriented environment for participants at all times.

General Job Description

Job description may include routine duties with no prior experience needed to be able to perform. May involve a modest degree of responsibility and judgment. Routine data entry; Answering phones; Making copies; Greeting customers; Taking messages; Managing confidential information; Maintain regular attendance; and, Perform other job duties as assigned. Other job duties may encompass organizing, managing, and setting up intramural tournaments, as well as providing transportation for related events and activities as needed.

Specific Duties

• Must obtain CPR & First Aide Certification within 30 days of Hire.
• Must obtain Defensive Driving Certification
• All other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: College student at NMHU enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours. High school diploma or GED. Experience: None

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge or experience in fitness Awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity.
• Awareness of safety concerns and risk management.
• Understanding of positive customer service.
• CPR & First Aide Certified.
• Defensive Driving Certification
• State or Federal Funded Student Employees

Physical Demands

Frequently: Standing, Walking, Bending, Squatting, Kneeling, Repetitive hand motion, Prolonged use of computer. Occasionally: Lifting a minimum of thirty (30) pounds, Climbing.

Hourly Rate $12.50/ Hour Preferred Work Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday Employment Term Fall - 2025 Work Location/Campus Center Las Vegas, NM Campus
