Occupational Therapist Major Function
This individual position responsible for Exceptional Student Education (ESE) programs and/or support services for exceptional students Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instructs and/or provides therapy to exceptional students
  • Participates in Staffing Team and other professional meetings
  • Maintains appropriate ESE student records
  • Assists teachers in understanding ESE programs and goals
  • Provides materials appropriate to students needs
  • Assesses and evaluates exceptional students
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Designing the occupational therapy program so that is consistent with the total educational philosophy and goals of the Academies
  • Working in coordination with other ESE teachers and ancillary personnel in planning and developing the program
  • Preparing, implementing, and evaluating an annual educational plan of care for each student based on individually assessed needs and in accordance with Pepin Academies procedures
  • Using appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to areas of therapy
  • Providing specialized occupational therapy techniques through individual and/or group sessions designed to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of the students
  • Providing parents with suggestions for home techniques
  • Ensuring that each student in the program has necessary evaluation records in his/her permanent folder
  • Supplying progress reports to school personnel, physicians, and parents of exceptional students as necessary and requested
  • Adheres to the standards and requirements necessary for licensure

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree
Licensed as an occupational therapist/physical therapist in Florida by the Board of Medical Examiners.
