Our ESIT (Early Support for Infants and Toddlers) Team is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support children ages birth to three with developmental delays and disabilities and their families! Join our team of providers as we partner with families to build healthy foundations and a community where all children thrive.
Position Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports the delivery of early support services to infants and toddlers (birth to age three) and their families through the Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) program. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA promotes child development through routine-based, relationship-focused, and family-centered practices. Services are delivered in natural environments such as the childs home, childcare, or community setting, with an emphasis on caregiver coaching and capacity building. The COTA collaborates within an interdisciplinary team to support each childs meaningful participation in daily routines and promote positive outcomes for the whole family.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Caseload Support / Documentation:
Implement individualized goals developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist and contribute input for ongoing progress monitoring.
Complete daily treatment notes, documentation, and billing in a timely and accurate manner.
Support timely and appropriate communication with families and team members.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Maintain confidentiality, demonstrate reliability and flexibility, and contribute positively to the team environment.
Other duties as assigned.
Direct Service / Collaboration:
Provide developmentally appropriate services to infants and toddlers under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, with a strong emphasis on caregiver involvement and coaching.
Deliver home- and community-based services in alignment with the child and familys Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
Support child development across domain areas using interdisciplinary approaches, in collaboration with team members.
Encourage caregiver participation in home visits and integrate strategies into daily routines.
Assist with assessments and data collection under the guidance of the supervising therapist.
Foster inclusive, culturally responsive practices that respect and honor diverse family structures, languages, and lived experiences.
Commit to and model the values of the Encompass Culture Charter.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Washington State Licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Valid Washington State drivers license and vehicle insurance.
CPR/First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens training (within 90 days of hire).
Successful completion of a Washington State DSHS background check and FBI fingerprint check (if applicable).
Preferred:
Experience working with children birth to three years and/or in early support settings.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is an active position requiring the ability to lift up to 2530 lbs., frequent squatting, floor sitting, and interactive play with infants and toddlers.
