Job Description:
SUMMARY
Provides clerical and receptionist support for the front desk and student clinic. Assists with daily clinical and hands-on lab operations. Prepares the student clinic and hands-on lab for class and participant sessions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides clerical and receptionist support for the front desk and student clinic, including participant scheduling activities and maintains assigned clinic databases
Organizes and maintains forms and brochures for clinic use
Prepares and maintains charts for participant sessions
Administers new participant intake and issues Massage Therapy Clinic Cards to new and returning participants
Coordinates workflow between front desk and student/participant/instructor during participant session
Cleans clinic equipment, maintains fluids and performs required laundry duties
Assists with maintaining OSHA standards and monitoring of the clinic area physical environment
Contacts Campus Police and/or Plant Operations regarding emergencies or incidences needing urgent attention during participant session, hands-on labs or other assigned time
Apprises program manager of serious participant and/or student concerns or problems
Assists instructor with monitoring student time-in and time-out of cubicle ensuring proper massage timing
Assists instructors in hands-on labs which include, but not limited to, supervising, observing, grading and evaluating students
May tutor conditional status students and other students who need learning assistance and visit classes or consult with faculty as necessary
May assist with tutoring databases and paperwork and enforces all policies and procedures related to tutoring
Maintains current knowledge of massage techniques and theories
Learns, follows and assists with teaching the program's established massage techniques and protocols
Enforces clinic and program policies and procedures with participants and students
Participates in events, including any off-site clinic, lab activities, or hands-on activities
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
High School diploma (or equivalent)
Significant related experience may substitute for education
Must be licensed as a massage therapist by the State Medical Board of Ohio
Minimum of two years of demonstrated clerical office experience
Demonstrated experience working successfully with the public
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability and willingness to receive student massages in order to effectively and accurately evaluate technique, methods, and professional conduct
Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Possess basic knowledge of fundamental Massage Therapy concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
Basic-level proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings as needed
Ability to file by alpha and numeric
Ability to perform basic mathematical operations
Ability to perform multiple simultaneous tasks and work in an often fast-paced environment and be detail oriented
Ability to organize work and set priorities within a general structure
Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
Must demonstrate proficiency in hands-on skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board for a minimum of three years
Associate degree or higher from a recognized college/university
One to three years of medical office clerical experience
Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling software
Supervisory experience
Prior experience or training in Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with
hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite;
Work may also require standing for long periods of time and moving in a fast-paces environment;
Work may also require bending and lifting of clinical supplies, equipment, laundry, etc.
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, Grade 07, with a Minimum Hiring Rate of: $18.00/ hour.
Special Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure.
