Provides integrated services for students with varying speech and language disabilities in the local school system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Ability to apply skills to school-based therapy by relating intervention programs to curricular outcomes.
- Provides speech and language services to students with disabilities in the general education classroom
- Consults/collaborates with other school personnel regarding the communication of the child’s needs and goals as set forth in the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Effective oral and written communication, human relations, and time management skills.
- Develops instructional materials for individual or group instruction to meet the needs of each child.
- Assesses the progress of children on a regular basis.
- Maintains communication with parents to discuss progress on goals and provide activities for home to reinforce skills.
- Completes required documentation including progress notes, service logs, Medical Assistance notes, IEPs and quarterly progress reports in a timely and accurate manner as defined by job duty timelines.
- Participates in supervision meetings with supervising speech and language pathologists.
- Maintains Supervision log for services.
- Participates in staff meetings and professional development activities.
- Participates in IEP meetings and parent conferences.
- Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of the field of speech-language pathology, child development, educational disabilities, and legal regulations regarding early intervention and special education.
- Ability to apply skills to school-based therapy by relating intervention programs to curricular outcomes.
- Working knowledge of augmentative/alternative communication systems for the impairment and disability patterns of individuals with severe expressive and/ or language comprehension disorders.
- Effective oral and written communication, human relations, and time management skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in speech-language pathology.
- Completed a supervised clinical experience that consists of a minimum of 80 hours of direct client/ patient/student services, as well as 25 hours of indirect client/patient/student services, under the supervision of an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist.
- Current licensure from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
DUTY YEAR AND SALARY: This is a 188 Day position. Salary based on experience on the appropriate salary scale.
