Travel Respiratory Therapist

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a night shift, float-required position with current licensure and NBRC CRT certification.

• Work in a pulmonary/respiratory therapy department in a hospital setting
• Assignments may include general, acute, critical care, and emergency areas
• Handles patient populations requiring respiratory procedures and therapies
• May float to any facility within 60 miles or to designated float zones as needed
• 12-hour night shifts from 18:15 to 06:45, three shifts per week
• Work every other weekend
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Deliver respiratory care procedures, including patient monitoring, medication delivery, ventilation management, expansion therapy, and bronchial hygiene
• Perform diagnostic testing such as ABGs, PFTs, EKGs, bronchoscopy, and pulse oximetry
• Provide airway maintenance and cardiopulmonary support during emergency interventions
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care
• Document all respiratory activities and patient responses according to legal and departmental standards
• Participate in the training and orientation of staff and students
• Travelers may be assigned up to one year and must take a 30-60 day break before returning to a new assignment
• All travelers must have a flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 Mar 31), with only medically documented exemptions considered
• No local candidates allowed; must reside over 60 miles from all float locations

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred
• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP required)
• Current state Respiratory Therapist Licensure (RLT) required if applicable; active license only, no pending allowed for consideration
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification by NBRC required
• American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required and must be active
• One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred
• Prior use of electronic medical records preferred
