Description Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist - Children's Services Location: CP Rochester - Winton Road Facility, Rochester, NY Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year / **CFY salary starting at $50,000, Licensed SLP salary starting at $55,000 **This position is eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus! This bonus is earned and payable as follows: 25% ($750) in the pay period following the 3-month anniversary of your employment; 25% ($750) in the pay period following the 6-month anniversary of your employment; and 50% ($1,500) in the pay period following the one-year anniversary of your employment ** Employment: This is a full-time 37.5 hours per week position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during business hours. The school schedule is to be followed and vacations are taken using paid school breaks. Summer session is included in employment. Evening work may be required as job duties demand. Summary/Objective: CP Rochester and Happiness House exist to support individuals with physical and developmental disabilities in choosing and accomplishing successive individualized life goals. We do this by providing a wide range of services to people of all ages in the greater Rochester area. Our purpose is to ensure that those we serve safely determine their own pathways in life and live as full members of their communities. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children. Required Education and Experience Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. New York State License in Speech Pathology or be eligible for a New York State License in Speech Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred. Current knowledge of the principles and methods of prevention, assessment, and intervention for people with communication and swallowing disorders, including consideration of anatomical/physiological, psychological, developmental, and linguistic and cultural correlates. Experience working with individuals with development disabilities preferred. Must have demonstrated excellent listening skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Valid NYS Driver's License. Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance. Competency Requirements: Communication Proficiency. Ethical practice. Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy. Upholds NYS Education Law/Practice Act as relating to the practice of speech therapy. Performs appropriate evaluations to individuals to determine the need for speech therapy services. Ensures valid prescriptions are written for all individuals on caseload. Carries out treatment plans developed after evaluation, in the Preschool or School Program. Available to consult with other professionals such as teachers, habilitation staff, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team as appropriate, to facilitate delivery of coordinated quality services to individuals. Works with parents/legal guardians as integral members of the interdisciplinary team in school setting. Communicates with physicians, orthopedists and other medical personnel in order to facilitate evaluation and treatment of individuals. Completes all paperwork in accordance with agency, program and department policies/guidelines. Ensures knowledge of paperwork, Electronic Health Record and applicable Medicare and Medicaid regulations in order to provide appropriate documentation. Attends all team, discipline and staff meetings as designated. Maintains treatment area in an orderly manner to ensure safety. Maintains all department equipment as appropriate. Advises Supervisor of Clinical staff of need for replacement of old or ordering of new equipment. Meets with interdisciplinary team and Program Supervisor as needed to review status and need of program modifications for individuals on caseload Provides coverage at other preschool sites or within the clinic as needed. Participates in conferences, workshops and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development. Adheres to agency's policies and procedures as well as department guidelines Supervisory Responsibility: None. May supervise a Speech Language Pathologist intern from an accredited institution periodically.
