Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist facilitates the rehabilitation of patients with physical, cognitive or sensorimotor impairments by planning and administering medically prescribed Occupational Therapy. Treatment plans are developed and implemented according to a patient's physical and cognitive ability, with the goal of promoting or restoring maximum functional independence.

What You Will Do:

  • Evaluate patients, interpret test results, develop and implement care plans to facilitate the rehabilitation of patients.

  • Assess patients' functional status in Activities of Daily Living, and provide recommendations and training for adaptive equipment and/or modifications as needed.

  • Utilize and maintain a variety of equipment such as, but not limited to: electrical stimulation, ultrasound, paraffin, hot/cold packs, splinting materials, UBE, adaptive devices.

  • Provides instruction in postural control, body mechanics, ergonomics, therapeutic exercise and home exercise programs

  • Consult with the physician regarding treatments and progress.

  • Complete documentation, including evaluations, daily notes, insurance forms (Medicare 700/701), discharge summaries, billing charges.

Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

  • Education: Graduate from an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) approved School of Occupational Therapy with a Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Degree.

  • Preferred Experience: One (1) year Occupational Therapist experience that included working with diverse populations including inpatient, CCU, outpatient, hand therapy and/or pediatric services. Must be computer literate and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • License(s): Valid Alaskan Occupational Therapy License at time of appointment and for continued employment.

Please note: In lieu of fringe benefits, casual employees receive a $2 an hour casual differential in addition to their hourly base rate of pay. Casual employees will not be scheduled to work a full time schedule for more than four (4) consecutive months or more than 780 hours annually. Casual employees must work a minimum of one (1) shift within a 90 day period to maintain status and employment.

Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
