Occ SummaryPerform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures asdefined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice,performing work in accordance with physician orders in the neonatal,pediatric and adult patient populations.
Work PerformedPerform all duties and responsibilities required of a Respiratory CarePractitioner I.Evaluate appropriateness of medicalorders .Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilatormodalities.Profic ient in the application of Non-InvasivePositive Pressure Ventilation (NP PV); Continuous Positive AirwayPressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Air way Pressure(BiPAP)Perform endotracheal intubation under the observation ofa Supervisor or Advanced Practitioner. Performextubations.Serve as me mber of the code/ emergency team.Administer medical gases.Insert nasogas tric and orogastrictubes.Perform tracheotomy tube changes. Perform capno graphymonitoring.Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilationor a irway protection.Interpret clinical data to optimizepatient clinical obj ectives.Participate in clinical rounds withphysicians, nurses and other health care providersAssist withBronchoscopy. Assist with orientation an d training of Level IIRT.Assure safe operations of devices in theMRI.Qua lified for certification in the hyperbaric chamber ifapplicable to the i nstitution scope of practice
