Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Bachelors/Masters/Doctorate Occupational Therapy Program.
  • Obtain and maintain licensure through the State of Michigan as well as the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapists.

Summary
  • Manages available resources to provide Occupational Therapy services to assigned patients according to standards of quality, safety and productivity. This includes patient and family education, recommending equipment needed for home use, home evaluations when indicated, and documentation of services provided.
  • Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. This includes participation in patient care conferences for inpatients, documentation on care plans and elsewhere in the chart, informal information-sharing, and program development.
  • Directly supervises O.T. assistants and students in patient treatment activities. Provides clinical teaching and contributes to performance appraisals. Assists in orientation and training of new departmental and facility employees, students and volunteers as necessary and required.
  • Serves on departmental, interdepartmental, and/or facility committees as assigned. Participates in department meetings and performance improvement activities, which may include coordinating interdepartmental groups in revising procedures/activities to improve the quality of patient care. Attends required in-service training programs.
  • Actively participates in professional organizations and community service activities.
  • Attains and demonstrates specialization in at least one related area of treatment and contributes to program development and staff education in this area.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
  • Supervises Occupational Therapy Assistants and volunteers. Assists in the supervision of students.
