Occupational Therapist School Setting - Newport News, VA

This full-time occupational therapy opportunity is available in the Portsmouth, Virginia, Virginia Beach, or Chesapeake areas, supporting K-12 students in a school setting. Two positions are open: one focused exclusively on elementary grades, and the other spanning Kindergarten through 12th grade. Both roles involve working closely with students who exhibit severe behavioral challenges, ranging from functional programs to inclusion settings.

Responsibilities include implementing sensory strategies to assist with calming techniques, enhancing tactile and fine motor skills, and providing handwriting therapy. The program is highly collaborative, with abundant support staff, promoting a team-oriented work environment. Class sizes are small, with approximately eight students per class, allowing for individualized attention and targeted therapeutic interventions.

Qualifications for these roles include an active Occupational Therapist license for Virginia or a pending license that will be active by the start of the school year in August. Experience working in school settings and with students who have behavioral challenges is essential.
