Under the direction of the Administrator, plans, directs, and supervises the overall operation of the Activities Department. Works within the department and as a part of the Management Team to operationalize the patient care and service goals and objectives established by senior management. Abides and complies with NJ Department of Health and Senior Services state regulations and/or Joint Commission where applicable.
Responsibilities- Provides considerate, respectful care focused upon the residents' individual needs.
- Affirms the resident's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted bylaw.
- Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the residents cared for.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the residents cared for.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth, development and/or adult health throughout the life span as appropriate to the job performed.
- Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
- Coordinates with CentraState Volunteer Services overseeing the Volunteer program at the Manor ensuring training and evaluations.
- Ensures a program of activities is provided and available to all residents that fulfills basic psychological, physical, social and spiritual needs.
- Responsible for the creation of a monthly schedule of social activity with a daily program schedule provided as a reminder. This includes special programs managed in the department such as music and memory, Aromatherapy, Pet therapy and Snoezelen.
- Coordinates with Public Relations at CentraState for positive press coverage.
- Oversees the operation of the Hair Salon.
- Coordinates resident outdoor bus trips for social engagement.
- Assists with employee and community events to support staff morale and social engagement with residents and staff.
- Coordinates and facilitates Resident Council meetings as directed by the Resident Council President, including providing meeting minutes of themeetings.
- Ensures the residents right to vote is honored by providing absentee ballots, trips to the voting booth or address changes as requested by the resident.
- Handles patient / residents electronic documentation of assessments, care plans, progress notes and MDS as it relates to activities and socialinteraction.
- Ensures attendance at care conferences, QAPI meetings and various committee meetings as scheduled.
- Manages all technology within the department designed to improve and increase social interaction such as Tablets, IN2L, Touchtown TV programslides, and Virtual Senior Center participation.
- Accepts and manages all donations from CentraState Foundation, grants and community.
- Ensures staff management, scheduling and availability including interviewing, hiring and training.
- Creates, reviews and revises department policies and procedures as required but at least annually.
- Creates and adheres to the departments annual budget.
- High School Diploma Or Equivalent Required
- Bachelor's Preferred
- 2 years of related experience preferred
- 2 years of Supervisory Experience with Resident Activities in a Healthcare Setting required
- 2 years of Experience Working with Alzheimer Residents preferred
- Current certification from the NCCAP (National Certification Council for Activity Professionals) or the NCTR (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation, Inc)
- Internal candidates may be in progress and granted up to 1 year to obtain certification if they meet other job and regulatory requirements

Compensation Range: $48,750 - $82,880 annually
The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range.
Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.
