Occupational Therapist-Assistant (COTA) - LTS

Job Goals: Collaborating with the Occupational Therapist to implement therapeutic interventions that address students' developmental, sensory, and motor needs with a focus on facilitating students' participation in academic and social activities while promoting independence and improving their overall functional abilities.

Supervision: Reports directly to Occupational Therapist and School Principal

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides direct occupational therapy to students according to a written treatment plan/IEP under the direction of an Occupational Therapist.Assist in planning and developing therapeutic goals with the Occupational Therapist that are educationally relevant and will be used in students' educational plans.Integrate therapeutic activities into the classroom setting when and wherever possible.Maintain high standards of confidentiality, attendance, and flexibility, while working in a collaborative setting.Assists in data collection and evaluation. Maintains records and documentation.Recommends modification of treatment approaches to the OT to reflect the child's changing needs.Assists with ordering, construction and adaptation of equipment and environments to meet the therapeutic needs of the students, as well as fabricate activities and materials.Communicates and interacts with other team members, school personnel, and families in collaboration with an OT.Maintains treatment areas, equipment, and supply inventory. Retrieves and delivers equipment from storage area as needed.Attend staff or program meetings to communicate goals and progress.Must be able to work collaboratively with regular and special education teachers to support students' progress.Must be able to communicate effectively and problem solve.Maintain a daily schedule, which includes multiple sites, students/classrooms and other activities/duties.Lift, transfer, and position children and equipment as necessary to provide occupational therapy.
