Expected pay for this position is $42.64 - $56.50/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.
OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, directing and evaluating the twenty-four hour operation of the activities of personnel engaged in providing diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care throughout the Medical Center.
Ensures adequate staff coverage for a fluctuating patient census/workload throughout the department. Ensures the provision of high quality services and care in accordance with Medical Center and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for assisting in the development of, implementing and administering new patient care services in order to achieve fiscal year business plans. Responsible for effectively managing financial, capital and human resources of respiratory care section by establishing, implementing and monitoring quality and productivity standards.
Implements corrective action as necessary. Develops, implements and ensures adherence to policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance with Medical Center and third-party requirements.
Coordinates in-house educational in-services and new employee orientation programs. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an approved institution.
License/Certifications:
Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Illinois.
Current National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapy credential if credentialed after July 2002.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
Other Licenses/Certifications:
N/A
Experience:
Professional level of knowledge of practice and theory.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Master’s Degree in Healthcare, Business or related field
License/Certifications:
Adult Critical Care Specialty credential, Registered Pulmonary Function Technician credential and Asthma Educator- Certified credentials.
Neonatal Pediatric Specialty credential from the NBRC preferred for all other locations.
Other skills/knowledge:
Analytical skills necessary to organize and direct the work of others, develop, implement and administer policies, procedures, budgets and respiratory therapy practices.
