The nationally recognized Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, Department of Orthopaedics, Division of Physical Therapy, is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated full time Speech Therapist to join our team as a full-time faculty member. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about academic medicine and patient care excellence.
Position Highlights:
Provide specialized care to patients in our outpatient clinics, focusing on treating neurology/neurodegenerative patients
No nights, calls, or weekends required.

Qualifications:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences/Disorders (required)
Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
Experience in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with dysphagia, voice, dysarthria, oral motor deficits, and speech/swallow disorders related to head neck cancer treatment including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
Skill set to perform, laryngoscopy, and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) procedures at assess voice and swallow disorders.
Evaluation and treatment of total laryngectomy patients and tracheotomy patients.
Experience to size and place tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis (TEP) in post-laryngectomy patients for voice rehabilitation and provide on-going patient instruction on the use/maintenance of TEP devices.
Collaborate with Head and Neck oncology care team including Head Neck Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Nurse Navigator, and members of the Head Neck Tumor Board.
Attend weekly Multi-disciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Tumor Board.
Work with Mays Cancer Center Rehabilitation leadership team to identify equipment needs to provide standard of care speech pathology services.
