General Summary of Position:

The Research Project Manager is a benefited .8 FTE position for one year with the possibility of renewal and dependent on grant funding. The project manager will support research activities that develop novel approaches to bridge the physical therapy clinical environment to the community. Specifically, the project coordinator will support an ongoing funded project developing an augmented reality functional assessment of older adults with knee osteoarthritis. The project coordinator will schedule and coordinate meetings and all meeting logistics with the research team, recruit and enroll in human subjects, develop clinical and experimental protocols with the research team, implement clinical and experimental assessments and tests, assist with summarizing results and support dissemination of research finding in presentation and papers, complete expense reports and requisitions, monitor grant expenditures, supervise research students, assure research ethical principles, and perform other duties with the research project.

Essential Job Duties:

Manage projects by:

Developing milestones and project timelines to assure successful implementation of the grant research activities
Develop and implement recruitment timeline and make sure recruitment stays on track to assure successful implementation of grant
Contributing to strategic discussions on project directions and goals.
Coordinate research team operations across all co-investigator sites (three or more sites)
Collaborating with consultants, partners, and stakeholders to meet project goals.
Establishing and implementing project procedures needed for successful implementation of study protocols and experimental testing
Managing research literature database

Conduct research and share findings by:

Developing and managing data collection tools
Develop experimental testing protocols using best research evidence
Implementing experimental studies
Overseeing multiple people conducting experimental studies
Recruit subjects to for the study
Enroll and consent eligible subjects
Oversee and secure subject payment for participation, including documenting all payments according to UML and grant policies
Writing and coordinating the preparation of reports, articles, and resources for the research team
Presenting findings at meetings and conferences.
Staying abreast of developments in relevant fields.
Working with faculty and staff to strengthen and benefit from group learning and professional development activities.

Administer finances by:

Monitoring all project expenditures and addressing any problems or errors with the Office of Research Administration.
Preparing monthly reports and projecting future income and expenses.
Managing procurement issues, including creation of purchase requisitions and ensuring that vendors are paid.

Manage communications and outreach by:

Developing branding and communication strategies including websites, publications, and events.
Conducting outreach by email, phone, and in-person meetings with stakeholders, potential members, scientific and policy experts, and others.
Representing the University at meetings, conferences, and university events.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree

Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience

Additional Considerations:

  • Current MA Physical Therapy license
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills across various levels, including writing, presentation and facilitation
  • Excellent patient/client communication and management skills
  • Strong interest in being part of a team in an academic research environment
