Full/Part Time 1.0 FTE Regular/Temporary Regular Schedule 9-months (190 days) Salary Range From $66,167 to $87,700 annually
Position Purpose: Evaluates students to determine their functional levels and identify special needs in the educational environment. The Physical Therapist works with team members in our FPS schools to enable our students to work toward their potential by improving, developing, or restoring sensorimotor function. Responsible for working with students' district wide.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Provides direct or consultative services to students who have been identified through an IEP or a 504 plan.
- Problem solves to meet the student's ever-changing needs.
- Liaison with school personnel, family, physician and agencies through written and/or oral communication.
- Program services defined by IEP or 504 plan could include: functional mobility, environmental adaptations/adaptive equipment, positioning, and gross motor function.
- Provides training to the appropriate persons to carry over therapy goals in the school setting.
- Provide recommendations for ordering equipment, adaptation, maintenance, fabrication and repair to meet student needs.
- Attend and participate in IEP and other team meetings.
- Evaluation, assessment and screening of students.
- Planning to meet individual student's and program needs.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate records, reports and procedures.
- Set-up, maintenance and cleaning of treatment areas and physical therapy equipment.
- Within district travel to meet job requirements.
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate from an approved school of Physical Therapy.
- Licensed by the North Dakota Board of Physical Therapy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students, preschool - 21 years of age.
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students and support personnel as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical, psychological, and educational evaluations and reports as related to a student's gross motor functions and educational needs, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including educational staff, parents, IEP team members, and medical staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
