JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

The audiologist will provide comprehensive educational audiological support and services to children to enhance audition, learning potential, and participation in educational environments. The audiologist will primarily serve students in-district in the southern portion (shoreline) of CT.The audiologist will be a contributing member of the audiology department through active participation in discussions, activities, and ongoing professional development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive and periodic audiological evaluations for assigned children and students (birth through age 22 years) and communicate audiological recommendations to the child's family (Birth-3) or the student's educational team and others as appropriate (school age)
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of amplification for assigned students and make recommendations for technology that will support optimal auditory access to spoken language
  • Advise school administrators and educators regarding the selection and purchase of hearing assistive technology and be responsible for the programming and verification of such equipment once it is obtained for the student
  • Collect and monitor data for progress monitoring and support the development of IEP/504 Plans
  • Assess the classroom listening environment and the proper use of amplification equipment
  • Provide professional development to district staff upon request
  • Complete audiological evaluations or auditory processing evaluations based on district request
  • Manage and maintain accurate student and hearing assistive technology information
  • Document all services including contact notes, progress summaries, evaluations, trainings, device recommendations, and communications with districts
  • Attend meetings as appropriate including school team, IEP/504 meetings, staff meetings, and in-services upon request
  • Monitor new developments and research in the profession and share information with colleagues
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral Degree (Au.D.) or equivalent, or more than ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position is regular telecommuting: work at an alternate work location (e.g., home office) and occasional work at a CREC location.
