Position Overview

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports the delivery of occupational therapy services in the educational setting. COTAs may provide occupational therapy services to students across all grade levels across all member district school campuses. All COTA-provided services will be directed and supervised by a licensed occupational therapist.

Position Description

• Provides occupational therapy services in accordance with each students IEP

• Engages in collaboration with supervisors and other school personnel

• Provides both formal and informal measurement of student progress toward IEP goals

• Ensures timely completion of treatment/therapy logs and progress notes

• Maintains daily communication with supervising occupational therapist

• Completes required inservice training and engages in continual professional development

• Establish professional rapport with stakeholders; communicates clearly

• Displays strong collaboration, time management, and organizational skills

• Maintains appropriate professional relationships with students

• Ensures that students privacy and confidentiality are maintained

• Displays appropriate educational standards of behavior, dress, speech and attitude

• Reports concerns promptly to supervisors

• Ensures relevant certifications remain in good standing

• Complete other duties as assigned
